Aponte is an indigenous reserve in the northern part of the department of Nariño, in southern Colombia, with about 5000 inhabitants. Its community has its own language, based on the Inga people.
Nariño faces the Pacific to the west - and its high altitude mountains create an ideal location for small farm coffee.
